Hello readers, this time let´s talk about the most popular gaijin website so far.
Due to the number of visits, I think most of the foreigners end up at least checking that website when looking for a job, I knew about gaijinpot.com like 5 years before coming to Japan.
To make a review, I searched the page in Japanese and I was shocked to find out many fishy things there, first, they make statements with poor or no evidence or research about how "bad" the gaijin are, things like:
" 34% of job seekers in the experience on the resume, have described the obvious lies such as education and job skills."
" International qualification of 1/4 is at least incorrect"
" There is a documented 53% of all application documents are not exactly correct"
" 34% of job seekers in the experience on the resume, have described the obvious lies such as education and job skills."
" 11% of job seekers do not misrepresent the reasons for retirement of the previous job."
" 49% of 3,100 of the person responsible for the adoption of the cooperation committee is to be met to the applicants that may have modified several points in the resume information" " 9 percent of job seekers have falsely stated in a previous job history and degree."
And so on, just check this page https://jobs.gaijinpot.com/ hrclub/ja/pre-employment- screening-background-checks
They throw all that info to scare the Japanese employers to sell their background check service, that Is not right at all, not by hurting the foreigner community´s reputation, specially knowing the way Japanese tend to label foreigners.
Maybe some people can say there is no problem to be searched if there is nothing to hide, but that´s not the point, the point is, this statements damage our reputation, also, they lie in their User Agreement, they don´t mention that your resumes will be subject to that scan without your consent, as a matter of fact they say the opposite in the point 6 from their privacy policy https://jobs.gaijinpot.com/privacy
I.e. people with 2 mayors or people that is qualified for more than one position and has 2 different resumes made for each kind of job, why should you mention your hospitality experience to apply for a teaching job and vice-verse? what´s the criteria they follow? not even a notification to explain yourself? Why they don´t mention that in a ToS or somewhere? people have the right to know.
They don´t care too much on hiding that info, maybe because they expect all new arrivals are japanese illiterate, thus noone will visit the japanese pages.
Also, they level of censorship in their forums is high. They don´t let the people denounce bad employers in their forums, just try to complain about any employer that advertise with them, the case in the website http://www.debito.org/ ?p=2993 is a good example or google "working for niichi gakkan" or nova, or Gaba, etc. and you´ll find some posts denouncing those employers, (you have to use the google cache because they are deleted from gaijinpot forums).
They are everything except a helpful website that will never side with the gaijin, the ones that are the reason of that website to exist, people can´t get information about potential bad employers, etc.
That is just the tip of the iceberg in that kind of unscrupulous websites that use the good will and trust of the people to make cash without care about how bad they can hurt our reputation, or how hard Is to find a job and find a source of info about things in Japan, maybe they don´t even care, their their domain is registered in PA, USA, and as far as I know they are subject to the USA laws, not to the japanese laws as they state, and even If they aren´t breaking any laws, they way they do It and hide the info from the applicants and delete non-harmful post using their freedom of speech, is just not ethic.
My 2 cents.
Really bizarre article. Your screenshot is obviously fake, as the English in it is terrible. It was obviously not written by a native speaker, and honestly, it looks a lot like your English. You should be ashamed of yourself.
ResponderEliminarKP, You claim the screenshot is fake, be my guest and visit gainjinpot japanese website, even with google translate you can see I´m not lying, come on, i provided a link!.
EliminarAlso, I don´t see where did I claim to be a native English speaker, or even an English teacher, you assume too much.
In another hand, your lack of research skills and your usage of fallacies, like the ad-hominem you just used to attack my English instead of proving the article is fake, makes me think you are one of the reasons the Japanese employers are so eager to background check, being a native speaker doesn´t make you a teacher, you need pedagogic skills learned trough study, and one of the first things a Teacher´s academy taught is to how to proper argue (always go to the point and avoid using fallacies, and do not assume).
Any other question, I´ll be happy to answer :)
